I just had to take out the celica shift levers. It was fairly difficult getting the press fitted gead selector off the shaft I had to heat it and use a slide hammer to pull it off. Then on the other side I had to remove the 4 bolts and pill out the levers.
I installed my corolla shift levers in, with a new gasket from dealer ship. There was a hole from where celica shift levers went in I bought a 28 mm freeze plug from dealership. I can post part number later.
I decided to swap the fifth gear from the c59 to the c56 for better mileage in 5th. Although the c56 does have a lower final drive ratio. In the end it does rev slightly higher but does have more torque everywhere else. I believe 3rd and 4th are close ratio in the c56.
Lastly I decided to use royal purple 75w90, which says safe for yellow metals. I swapped drained it after 2k miles just to see and don't see any metal shavings. I killed my last c59 by using mobile 1 75w90 gear oil I believe, it was an expensive mistake.
