  • On a PC, but on a mac (if you're experienced commandline guy) this ought to be a peace of cake to do, as a Mac is basically a Unix box, as the loopdir is.
The loopdir is a EXT3 file system, and you might get some help here: http://serverfault.com/questions/174909/mount-block-file-on-osx
  • I'm afraid command lines and coding are not my real forte. I dabble occasionally but have no real skills or knowledge in this area. My son however does coding for a living as part of his job. He may be able to help me sort something out regarding this problem using the sound advice you have very kindly uploaded to this forum. What really gets me is that TomTom should react to these situations and by all accounts don't really appear to be able to offer much in the way of support to actually fix the problem. Customers should not have to look for these solutions when it is evident that TomTom software engineers are creating updates which are effectively wrecking their products. I did however locate the POI folder and found it to be full of speed camera alerts. Another set of similar alerts were also to be found in the maps folder. I read that deleting these speed camera alerts will allow the card to refresh properly when it is updated but I can't help thinking I will lose all the alerts that I downloaded just before my 'TomTom live' subscription expired around 2 weeks ago. Hence my reticence to dabble. I could however experiment on a clean SD card leaving the original intact. Do you think though that doing this might write confusing code to the memory in the device which could conflict with the original card if reinstalled at a later date?
  • If you follow the normal procedure to create a clean new SD, and you just play around with the POI's, I don't foresee any issues that can cause any issues, so you can't go back to the SD card you already have.
    Good Luck
  • Over 4 months and we're still losing favourites and settings whenever we update the SD card.
TomTom HOME still reports maps as old despite updating, which results in no MapShare updates.
  • Hi Julian.
There are lots of calla open about this issue of loosing favourites settings and others people appears to blame Us the users or the memory card but after testing I find the update is the cause not the users or the simms, The proof is simple connect a working memory card to the PC and without HOME programme running I copied all the files from the card to a safe place, I then used HOME to update the card I took the card back to the car and found my favourites were missing as usual I took the card back to the PC perform a Microsoft scan on the card and the program reported no problem so I cleared the card and copied back all the files from the safe place and went back to the car and found all my favourites were there again so they did not go because of a duff card or a duff user.
  • Hi,
I've completely proven and documented the bug for TT, and I've also written a complete workaround to the bug (here on the site) you're welcome to use.
  • With all due respect to Dein (love your work), the workaround isn't practical as you'd have to follow the complicated steps EVERY TIME you update your card. This probably means that if you use the workaround, you'd be less inclined to bother with updates to GPSQuickFix or Map Share (which haven't been working anyway), which reduces the usefulness of the device.
Whatever you do - the value and usefulness of the TomTom device has significantly decreased. It's been over 6 months. You'd think TomTom would've fixed it by now.
  • Correct. The problem is that TomTom does a cold restart every time the card has been removed. The created NP's, Favorites and settings you did on the NB1 itself are not written to the SDcard. So with the cold restart they get lost. Been shouting to TT for months now and gave up. Kept getting responses from first-line helpdesk and never got to the second-line. They had to change the startup after installation of the USB-fix by Mazda. Started playing from nr 1 to .... every time the radio was powered on. Also random play did the same random sequence. So Mazda keeps power to (parts of ?) the memory to keep the status from the tracklist.
  • YES this is a general problem created by TomTom. The problem is that TomTom does a cold restart every time the card has been removed. The created NP's, Favorites and settings you did on the NB1 itself are not written to the SDcard. Startup is slower and therefor the connection to Live Services takes 5min. So with every cold restart they get lost. Been shouting to TT for months now and gave up. Kept getting bullshit responses from first-line helpdesk and never got to the second-line. They had to change the startup after installation of the USB-fix by Mazda. Started playing from nr 1 to .... every time the radio was powered on. Also random play did the same random sequence. So Mazda keeps power to (parts of ?) the memory to keep the status from the tracklist. Probably takes another 3 years for TomTom to fix this. That is if they are planning to do so.
  • We've reached the 1 year mark since this flawed update was released. Since then we've had to put up with losing favourites and settings every time we take the SD card out.
What kind of hardware/software company releases a defective update and then takes over a year to fix it? This is beyond ridiculous!

Feb 21, 2016  Hi, I spent all day trying to install Mazda AIO on my 2019 Mazda CX-5 with FW V70.00.335. I followed all the instructions and had serial access. I ran the commands, I believe the autorun script got installed. I only saw blue files in Putty, no green ones. I turned off the car, installed a USB.
