In 2006, the sixth generation Toyota Camry officially debuted at the Auto Show in Detroit.

The length of the car remained the same, but the new Camry is 20 mm lower (1470 mm) and 25 mm wider (1820 mm) than its predecessor. The interior became more spacious due to the increase in the wheelbase to 2775 mm (plus 55 mm). The glazing area was reduced by raising the lower edge of the doors. The car is installed two petrol engines – 4 and 6-cylinder. Gasoline 4-cylinder engine, 2.4 liters modified, changing the cylinder head and exhaust system. A new 3.5-liter V6 engine with 277 horsepower. gives the car a good dynamic – up to 100 km / h accelerates in 7 seconds. In the maximum configuration this engine is aggregated with a six-speed automatic transmission. The reaction of the car to a sharp depression of the accelerator pedal the new box halved – to 0.5 seconds.

Safety systems include belts with pretensioners and overload limiters. Two-stage front cushions, side and curtains provide protection over the entire length of the cabin. Camry is equipped with a safety steering column. Protection of the head is ensured by energy-absorbing materials. Seats provide protection against whiplash injuries to the spine and head.
